Earlier this year, a black-and-white cat was found in a carrier at a hockey game. No one came to claim him as he huddled quietly inside.
A local veterinarian was at the game when she came across the abandoned cat. She couldn’t leave him to fend for himself and took him home. Hungry and terrified, the cat named Tyson kept to himself, lying low to the ground while wolfing down a plate of food.
Being in a carrier or a kennel was overwhelming for him. He snuck into a food container at the vet’s office and tried to hide there.
Tyson needed a quiet place where he could decompress and let his true personality shine. A veterinary staff member who volunteers for Community Cat Club contacted her rescue and asked if they could help the deserving boy.
Sara Sharp, founder of Community Cat Club, immediately sent out a foster request, hoping to get Tyson into a quiet home where he could relax and be himself.
“He was stressed at first and would even pull his own fur out,” Sara shared with Love Meow. “We were desperate for a chill foster home for him.”
A volunteer saw the post and stepped up to foster him. Tyson was cautious upon arrival, his eyes darting around as he tried to take in every detail of his new space.
Realizing he had food within reach, soft blankets and beds to sleep on, and kind humans to reassure him that he was safe, the fear in his eyes melted away. Gradually, he let his guard down and revealed his true self, surprising everyone.
“After about a week or so of being in foster care, his true personality showed.”
Tyson became a source of joy and laughter. With his newfound confidence, he began sitting on the bed or couch like a little human with his front paws neatly resting on his lap.
“He is the epitome of a self-reliant feline. He’s got a sense of humor that’ll make you chuckle, often showing off his funny antics when you least expect it. Tyson’s mellow nature makes him the perfect companion for a quiet evening at home.”
He often casually leans on his people like a proper “businessman” who is always sharply dressed. He rests his elbow on them as if deep in thought, contemplating his next antic.
“He’s also a cuddly little guy who, once he’s warmed up to you, will snuggle up close for a heartwarming cuddle session.”
Tyson thrives as a solo cat, the center of attention in his domain. His eyes follow every person in the room like he’s a full-time supervisor, always ready to give purrs and snuggles or receive chin scratches.
He no longer wants to hide away, knowing he will never be left outside again.
With his trust and hope restored, Tyson spends his day lounging and snoozing near his people. When he wakes up, he props himself upright, ready for business.
“Tyson is a bit of an independent soul, preferring to be the only cat in the house.”
“This unique combination of traits makes him a one-of-a-kind companion. He will provide endless entertainment, affection, and a sense of calm to your home.”
After almost four months in foster care, Tyson is ready to find a forever home where he will be loved and spoiled endlessly.
