A family thought they would adopt a cat and one of her kittens but walked out with the sweetest outcome possible.
When a striped feline crew arrived at Exploits Valley SPCA, they were full of love and hope, ready to wriggle their way into someone’s heart.
“A beautiful tabby mom came to our shelter with four tabby babies – one boy and three girls,” the SPCA shared. “Mama Squirt is the most docile, friendly, easygoing kitty, and she’s done the best job raising her kittens to be just like her. They all love attention, people, and playing.”
The kittens never lacked an ounce of love and quickly outgrew their nursery kennel, ready to explore the world beyond.
The moment they moved into their new room at the shelter, they took off, bouncing off the walls and chasing each other with unbridled energy. They zipped around their mom in a flurry of tiny paws and playful chaos, occasionally pouncing on her for added fun.
The kittens surrounded their tower of tracks toy, batting at the balls simultaneously while one of them hopped atop the tower for good measure.
Mama Squirt was delighted to have more room to stretch and relax after spending so much time in the kennel. She watched the kittens tear through the place while waiting for the right family to come find them.
With a heart of gold, she showered the staff and volunteers with purrs and gentle snuggles.
After raising her last litter, she would never have to worry about food and shelter or go through another pregnancy.
When they were ready to find their forever homes, Pikachu, the only boy from the litter, quickly secured a loving family. Meanwhile, his mom and sisters, Mew, Meowth, and Eevee, patiently awaited their turn.
Crystal opened her home and her heart to Pikachu but never stopped thinking about the rest of the tabby crew. She introduced her newly adopted kitten to her dear friends, Harry and Denise Hutchings, and their hearts flipped.
“Crystal thought they would be the perfect home for the mom and a sibling and convinced them to at least come have a look.”
They agreed, and Harry visited the shelter shortly after. He didn’t intend to adopt that day, but the gazing eyes from the mom and the kittens instantly tugged at his heartstrings, and he wanted to help.
“He decided to foster the tabby family to give our crowded shelter a break. He took home mom and her remaining three babies.”
Squirt and her kittens quickly settled into their foster home, running around as if they had always lived there. From that day on, the house was constantly filled with joy and laughter.
The family’s hearts swelled as they witnessed the mama’s unconditional love and the kittens’ endless mischievous antics.
A few weeks after Harry brought them home, he and his family decided to keep the mom and one of her kittens and “return the others to the shelter to find homes,” or so they thought.
As the day to return the kittens drew near, they found themselves falling more in love with all of them. “When the fateful day arrived, Harry brought the kittens in, but they never left the carrier.”
“Instead of bringing two kittens back for adoption, he left the shelter with four adoption papers. A four-way adoption.”
Now Mudder, Sook, Coyot, and Runt have scored the perfect home with the Hutchings and will spend the rest of their lives together.
